Retired Police Officer Council News
Happy Valentine’s Day to all. On behalf of the Retired Police Officers Council Board of Directors
we hope your New Year is going well and send you our best wishes for the rest of the year.
The mailing of 2020 dues notices was on January 14th, so you should have received them by now.
We mailed out notices but want to remind everyone that all of the information that you received in the
mailout is online at our website www.rocpba.org. You can pay your dues and register for the reunion in
this easy manner. Membership information forms, reunion information and reunion registration forms
were included in the mail out. Please be sure to fill out the membership update form regardless of
whether or not there are any changes in your information just so that we can be sure to have the
correct information for all our members. If you have not received the mailout please send an e-mail to
rocpba.org or leave a message on our voicemail at 305-594-2848. A timely response is appreciated
so there is no lapse in your membership.
We will be returning to the Marriott Lake Mary once again for our annual reunion April16th thru April 19th.
Our room rate this year is $99.00 per night, plus tax. Fortunately, the Marriott has worked closely with us to
keep rate increases to a minimum. Please call to make your reservations as early as possible and make sure to mention you are with the RPOC. The tollfree number to call is 1-800-380-7724 or directly at 407-995-1100. There are only a certain number of rooms blocked for the RPOC so please do not delay. It would be better to call and make a reservation and cancel if changes come up rather than wait until the last minute as late reservations are subject to price increases and based on availability. The cut off for reservations is March 20, 2020.
Your reunion registration form contains sign-up information for our golf tournament which will be held on Friday. There will also be an opportunity for anyone interested to play again on Saturday. Should you have any questions regarding golf please contact our Golf Coordinator John Fraley at 954-651-0451 or e-mail him at email@example.com.
We realize that not everyone is interested in playing golf but there are many other things to do in the area. It is only a 30-minute drive to Disney, Universal and other Orlando attractions and a 45-minute drive to the Daytona area beaches. A group outing is being put together for a lunch cruise on the St. Johns River on Saturday April 18th. Details were included in your mailout but you can also contact Reba Miller at 954-436-3627 or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org. There is a cut off date for reservations so please do not delay.
I again want to remind everyone that we are currently accepting applications for the Otis Chambers RPOC Scholarships. Applications will be accepted through March 15th. We encourage our members who have college bound children or grandchildren to apply.
The date for this month’s Miccosukee lunch is Wednesday, February 12th. The complete list of dates for 2020 is in our events section on our web page (www.rocpba.org) As I have mentioned before, there are also other get togethers in different locations, central Florida and Broward. If you are interested in attending any of these please contact me and I will give you the information if available.
